You’ve seen small wheel folding bikes \u2013 those that seem to belong in the circus. Folding bikes have suffered that indignity for too long, and the Allston is here to prove good looks, performance, and portability can exist together.<\/p>\n

Instead of small wheels, the Allston is equipped with full-size road wheels that deliver a ride indistinguishable from other high performance bikes – even those that don’t fold. It doesn’t use a traditional derailleur like other bikes which can be noisy and require regular tuning. In fact, it doesn’t even have a chain. In place is a sealed internal gear hub for shifting and a carbon belt that requires no oil, and will never rust – no matter how long it’s in the rain.<\/p>\n

Luckily, this full-size bike doesn’t need to be locked outside in the rain, in sight of bike thieves, because it folds to easily store in any closet or city apartment. It was designed from the ground up to deliver a combo of top-rated performance and unique portability to commuters. The cutting edge components and a folding design offer the perfect solution to those looking for a reliable, low maintenance bike that fits an on-the-go lifestyle.<\/p>\n

The Allston’s rust-proof Gates belt drive and Shimano 11-speed internal gear hub are ideal for commuting in all weather, and allows for grease free handling when the bike is folded. The entire drive train is corrosion resistant, requires no lubrication, and is virtually maintenance-free. Extra wide 38mm tires and hydraulic disc brakes make it equally suited for the pot holes of city streets and unpaved paths. When folded, the bike compacts to just 36 inches wide, 28 inches high and 12 inches deep, perfect for the car trunk, train, or closet.<\/p>\n

Like all Montague bikes, the Allston uses the patented DirectConnectTM folding system. The design allows the frame to fold around the seat tube rather than placing a hinge in any of the tubing, another feature distinguishing it from other folders. This leads to an incredibly stiff frame that can be folded in less than 20 seconds.
\nMontague\u2019s Eurobike award winning RackStand is also included with the Allston which serves as a standard cargo rack and mud guard when the bike is in use, converts into a kickstand when parked, and allows the bike to stand upright when folded. The Allston retails for $1,895.00.<\/p>\n
