We wanted full size bikes that didn’t take up much space and were easy to store. This is the answer. While riding you have no clue that this is a folding bike. No shifters to get knocked out of alignment or adjust. I have ridden single speed fixes for years so I am used to it, my wife prefers the freewheel. Gearing may be a bit tall for my wife, but I can play with that later. Overall I think it is a quality bike for the money.

Take it off and bring it to your hotel room.

I bought this bike my freshman year of high school, and it has been my main source of transportation since. Used it everyday for school, to go to work, and now for college. Not a single part has broken down for all these years. I am so grateful for the build quality of this bike. Exceptional. Also this bike is very low maintenance. And the folding feature—it’s come in handy countless times, when I had to fit it in a car trunk. Quality, functional, and sleek design; I’ve gotten multiple compliments about it. Thank you Montague for creating such an awesome product. If this one breaks down, I know where to go to get my next bike. Thanks again.

I’d previously ridden an Airnimal Joey with 24 inch wheels and wanted an easier ride on road and gravel. I love this Boston! So light and elegant and I don’t look like I’m perched on a kid‘s bike with a weirdly tall seat post. I use it as a gravel/ travel bike; I’m happy walking up steep hills so the simplicity of a single speed is a win. Being able to ride out wherever and catch a bus if it gets too late or the weather turns bad is so versatile that I’m planning a long distance camping tour mixing cycling with buses and trains.

It took me a while to decide to go to a bigger front gear, but I finally moved from the stock 42 or 44T up to a 50, and then to 54. Now I can easily keep up with Chicago city traffic and cruise easily at 20 mph, topping out around 25+ if I’m really cranking. The only problem I’ve had with this bike is the rear brake cable, where it folds at the body joint, it keeps kinking and making the rear brakes stick. I swapped out the cable and sleeve a few times and it would work fine for a few months, but I got tired of changing it out. Eventually I gave up and took off the rear brake completely. I upgraded the front brake pads to one of those combination compound sets and its more than enough stopping power. The folding system is rock solid, and rides like a real bike. I love it.

The Boston has exceeded my expectations. No problem getting it on a rush hour train and what a joy to ride. A high quality bike – it is light, solid and responsive. Thanks Montague!

Montague got the geometry just right for city riding. The bike is responsive, but never twitchy. It’s perfect for getting in and out of traffic in Boston. And it’s super practical too as it’s allowed on all trains, even during rush hour, and even on the Green line. But all this wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t also just FUN to ride. The thing MOVES. It’s my all-time favorite bike and favorite ride, single-speed and all.

Absolutely love my Montague Boston, bought mine in 2014, did some traveling through South America and Europe, it’s got some battle scars, set up fixed. It’s a great design and very sturdy. May take a little bit to get used to if you’re used to riding a fixed steely, but the benefits are in its rideability and durability.

It’s nice to have for fitness as well. I’d rather keep it in the truck so a folder is key. I was drawn to Montague because their design looks stronger than the other options and the full-size wheels roll easier. The Boston is very clean-looking and I love look of it with no down tube. The frame feels rock solid. The gearing is lower than your typical ‘fixie’ but that’s fine with me. It’s nice to know the frame is built with standard sizes for headset, bottom bracket etc so I can upgrade down the road. I’m pleased with the ride and build quality and the look of it.
